Response Teams

Emergency Response Assistance Canada (ERAC) works with contracted response teams across Canada. ERAC response teams are assessed and approved annually, so our Plan Participant members can be assured that competent, well-trained teams are responding to their incidents and that responses meet or exceed all government regulations.

ERAC has an online training package that all our response teams must maintain. This is a combination of training developed by ERAC, as well as a monitoring program for other employer-provided courses. All training is tracked electronically in real-time through our learning management system, Workhub, and may be audited at any point to ensure compliance.

All ERAC response teams complete a two-day training and assessment session where ERAC technical advisors (TAs) validate core competencies. ERAC TAs also conduct annual equipment checks to ensure our mandatory equipment requirements are met. The equipment checks include the possession and maintenance of all specified equipment.

ERAC training is function-specific, based on NFPA 472 Standard for Hazmat response, industry best practices for incident stabilization, transfer, flaring and firefighting, as well as Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Occupational Safety & Health requirements.
